Around the year 1390 [about 14 years ago; 2011/12], taking a protest stance against Spain’s bullfighting, I created a modern-art collage: a panel composed of real cow bones set against a red ground, titled “Dedicated to Spain.” As that piece began to deteriorate due to the use of natural elements (bone), I resolved to retell the same protest using documentary images of this so-called sport—better described as a brutal tradition!—this time in the form of a digital collage, resulting in the present work.
This piece forms part of a process-art project and directly reflects my personal view of the tragedy of bullfighting.
